about

Please feel free to download and share this as you see fit! It is 100% free! We just were feeling nostalgic!

Invaders From A Forbidden Planet started as a band full of Florida State University students in 1996. The core members were Lee Grutman, Brandon Arnold, Rachel McDonnell, Matt Mazarowski, and Mike Coleman. However, we had lots and lots of other members over the years and help from outside musicians. Including: Mike Workman, Derek Mitchka, Liz Whittington, Kathy Denton, Julie from Flanders, Drew Watson, Kelly Shane, Jay Erter, and probably a few we are forgetting to mention.

Invaders released two full length albums "The Ups and Downs of Boyhood" and "Queen City", one split CD w/ Canard, 8 seven inches, and appeared on numerous compilations and tribute albums.
Most of this was recorded by the legendary Tallahassee recording engineer Tommy Hamilton. Though some was recorded by Kelly Shane. And a track or two at Relection Sound in Charlotte, NC.

Invaders had two college radio hits - "Ten Good Reasons (Why We Hate REM)" in 1997 and "Robot of Love" in 1999. "Ten Good Reasons" is happily mentioned on The Woggles website for getting a shout out and unhappily mentioned all over REM fan sites for being reviled. Also, it held the #1 spot on fledgling music site MP3 dot com for several months, covered by scores of punk bands around the world, and even used in a University of Virginia music class!

Almost everyone who played in Invaders still makes music or at least performed with other bands for a very long time, many quite successfully.

After officially ending Invaders in 2003, Lee started the band LA Tool & Die whose 2004 album "Fashion for the Evildoer" went Top 100 in the CMJ Charts. Brandon Arnold and Mike Coleman played on that album as well.
